Hi Tom, We had great success using Vlasta at Two Wheel Recyclers. He was also racing in State Titles until this year., and was a member of our club. We have used Vlasta for many parts in the last year. We have also used www.findapart.com.au You type in what you need and your request gets emailed to all the wreckers/dealers on their database, Australia Wide, who then email you if they have what you are after. Normally they give you a price and approx freight cost too. This is how we got a back wheel recently, they reply within 24 hours.

Soz Mel, good idea but vlasta wont have what he needs. TOM, your bottom end will be the same as the MX 125 and the DT 125 1973-1977 before it went to the YZ125d. so your internal stuff can come from them, i have a few YZ125A's if you need to see what i mean as far as similar looking parts. the ealry 125 was a bit of a basket case for yamaha as it wanst really up to spec with the bigger YZ for some time and was really an AT1, then MX125 based engine till it caught up with the model line up later with the 'c' and 'D' YZ'd ( at that time Yamaha had the 80,100,125,175 - so they were still covering trail bike sales) The yz125 missed the year cut off of the C so yamaha stuck the X designation on that year to fill the gap till they could bring them back in line with the new monshocks that made the line up 75-76 for all the other YZ cc's So the way to tell what you have and what its worth and thus how much you spend on restoring is prity easy , what are the first 3 digits of the PRefix on the engine number ? it should be the same as the frame number. 537 is yz125c , 1g8 is yz125x from that i cant tell you exactly what you have and what options you have. I have some yamaha software that allows me to cross referance all the yamaha parts numbers so if i type in say a kick starter spring, it might come back with 50 other models it fits and the upgrading part numbers ( as the one before it became obsolete ) the beauty is that you can target the same part form a cheaper less popualr model and pay half the price - because no other bunny realises its the same part ) if you have an X it will be yellow and have 2 raised fin/ supports on both the front and back of the fork legs, still twin shocks ? if its later it will be white with a red stripe, then again it could be a bitza, so post up them prefix numbers and a photo of it and all will be revealed. depending on how original it is and how complete it is its worth a grand, well put it this way i got offered a complet running and original YZ125X recently for a $1,000, so id say its around the $400 -$800 mark. you can PM or email me and we can discuss it if you like, im down at victor most weekends if you want me to stop in and take a quick look. I restore and race pre 75 stuff but i get a lot of stuff interstate and out the US, so i would be able to point you in the right direction if its somthing you want to pursue. cheers mArshy

Tom what did you end up doing with this ? is it a project yet.... or are you looking to offload it. I need some early forks.......... ;D I have a 76 125 here with the white tank which i might be wrecking but no plastic etc, consider selling pipe if it wont fit another project )
