Depends on the state of tune of your motor Marshy. IF the motor is stock and you convert it to methanol fuel, you will need to advance the timing a little. If you change the engine to make the best use of methanol fuel the timing will be stock or even retarded a little. Everything you see on the net may not be true also...

what i thought they seem to contradict each other some of these people on the web. See i thought if your running cooler and higher comp you sort of cancel out the effects somwhat. but if the squish is later you want to be there when it get fully compt not earlier. I have dropped the head and barrel down to 12.5:1 ish , with just over a 1mm squish@ 50%, the ports look to open at the same time as previously with the piston so i have set it to stock and figure if it wont startup i can turn it one way or the other until it sounds right. Ive drilled out the jet needle, needle jet, the pilot and the onlyone im not sure on is the vavle seat, no one mentions it but surely just by raising the float you havent made any differance to whats coming in ? so wont that need to be altered to let more juice into the bowl the mains are at 3mm so im thinking that 6mm lines no filter etc etc, but the missing link is the needle and seat, if the alchy is all sucked up regardless of the float height the seat will end up being the main jet really. Am i on drugs there or is that making sense, just havent heard anyone talk about it or seen it written down...... on the other I was thinking of raising the ports a little smidge, but i think ill get the thing running first and then suss it out from there, i want to take it to the nationals in Sept, so the priority is to get it running reliably first so i can be condfident in entering that class. IF not switch to another bike class and come back to it when i have my head around it.....
