I just wanted to check what the minimum safety gear requirements are for Dirt Track. I know that some changes have been made quite recently. Is it right that you now need a chest plate, back protector, elbow and knee guards and neck brace, as well as common stuff like helmet, boots, goggles, gloves ect. I have a chest plate, but its not the new style body suit which has a back protector and elbow guards all in one. Do I need one of these??? I have a neck brace, but no knee or elbow protectors... do I need these as well??? Help would be greatly appreciated Cheers, Aaron

Do you have the 2011 MoMS? Or the Supp Regs for the Dirt Track Titles? The new rules are that you gotta have knee and elbow guards, as well as we have always had to have a back protector and the helmet, boots, googles, gloves etc You can buy the elbow and knee guards seperately, but I dont think Victor Motorcycles has any elbow pads left. Or you can buy the suit with the back protactor and elbow guards built in, and buy the knee pads separately. And we also must have back numbers, either on your shirt, on a plate, make up a bib, or iron them onto a piece of material and pin it to your back. www.ma.org.au/fileadmin/user_upload/Documents/MOMS/2011_MoMS_Folder/20_Dirt_Track.pdf

Aaron if you can't get any gear locally in time for next week call Kate at 4bp in Brisbane, she will get it to you ASAP. Her gear is competitively priced and is effective - I tested it twice pretty hard last year and was very happy with the protection. You can check it out here: 4bpracing.com.au/The full body armour includes the back protector and elbow guards, you just need to add the knee guards. However I'm not sure about compatability of neck braces with other brand back guards/body armour....

if your short of cash just got to Kmart or bigW and hit the bike section, they both have Roller skating knee and elbow pads and i have seen them for as little a $6 a set.
NEck brace is not comp. and is totally optional. NUmber on your back a must as they will tighten up on that this year as the guys mentioneds above. see ya sunday
